The Culver Town Council members will hold a public hearing tonight on the proposed ordinance that would move the Culver Town Council candidate selection to the May Primary Election.
The council members approved an ordinance on first reading that would allow the selections to be made in the Primary Election rather than holding a town convention to determine candidates for the General Election in November. The issue came about after Town Council President Ginny Bess Munroe commented on the extreme low voter turnout in the recent Republican Town Convention. Public comment will be taken on the matter tonight.
The town council will also hold additional readings on the ordinance to adopt the 2019 budget and approve an intergovernmental agreement with Marshall County and all of the municipalities involved in the Marshall County Crossroads Regional Stellar Initiative.
Discussion will also surround the contract for the grant administration for two of the town’s upcoming OCRA projects through the Stellar Communities Designation Program and a sub-recipient agreement for a Community Development Block Grant project.
EMS rates and the town manager’s contract will also be considered. In addition, the council members will gather information from the town’s various departments.
The Culver Town Council meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. ET tonight at the Culver Town Hall following a work session at 5:30 p.m. ET in order to view a presentation on information released from the Purdue Climate Change Research Center.
