Marshall County Plan Director Presents Budget Requests to County Council

The Marshall County Council received information from newly installed Plan Director Ty Adley about some requests for the 2019 budget.

The council is anticipated to meet with department heads on Tuesday, Aug. 21 to discuss salaries, wages and department needs.

In paperwork provided during the council meeting this week, Adley noted that the overall requests for permits has risen as well as requests to clean up properties around the county. He said the Plan Commission is asking for a few additions to the budget while attempting to provide timely assistance to county residents.

The Plan Commission members will be seeking a full-time office manager, a part-time code enforcement officer and a department vehicle. The addition of those requests total nearly $100,000.

Councilwoman Penny Lukenbill asked for information on what kind of administration costs are going into the issuance of the permits. Adley said he will work on getting all of the information available to the council for next week. The council members also asked for a review of the permit fees.

Interlocal agreements will also be reviewed.

The requests will be considered when budget hearings begin at 9 a.m. on Tuesday.
