The Marshall County Commissioners discussed a resolution that would transfer the property at 500 E. Laporte Street to the City of Plymouth.
In previous discussions on the matter, the commissioners thought it would be in the best interest of the county to deem that property as surplus and transfer it to the City of Plymouth. The commissioners agreed that it would benefit the city so they can maintain it as they see fit, especially with the upcoming rehabilitation of the Laporte Street Footbridge in 2020.
County Attorney Jim Clevenger presented a resolution to the commissioners Monday morning that was prepared by Plymouth City Attorney Sean Surrisi that outlines the terms of the transfer. The commissioners unanimously approved the resolution and authorized Commission President Kevin Overmyer to sign all necessary documents, including the quit claim deed.
The Plymouth City Council members recently approved similar documents.
