The Marshall County Commissioners approved a request to pre-pay Shade Master Tint in order to get security upgrades started at the Marshall County Building and the Courthouse Annex.
Marshall County Commissioner and Safety Committee President Mike Delp presented the proposal to the county council in July who approved the purchase and installation of silver-reflective film to the windows in the county building and Courthouse Annex. The film will not allow passersby to see inside the building. Delp also said the film acts as an energy savings component as it will keep the heat from the sunshine at a less intense level.
The pre-pay amount is $15,676.76 which is the deposit for the project. The cost to put film on all of the windows at the Marshall County Building is $26,000. The cost at the annex is just over $5,200.
Automatic door locks will also be installed on the doors at the Marshall County Clerk’s Office, Treasurer’s Office and Auditor’s Office. Sheriff Matt Hassel told the county commissioners this week that the locks will be installed during the first week of September.
The upgrades are being paid for out of the sheriff’s security and video line item in the budget.
