FEMA Denies One Portion of Marshall County’s Reimbursement Request

The Marshall County Commissioners accepted a denial letter from FEMA that concerns a specific reimbursement of funds.

According to the information included in the letter, the work done by Heavy Equipment Response Coalition (HERC) is not considered to be eligible emergency work. Auditor Julie Fox read from the letter that claimed that since HERC is a 501 (C)(3) not-for-profit designation that portion of the county’s request would not be reimbursed.

The county and the City of Plymouth entered into a contract with the organization in March where HERC would volunteer disaster response services, supplies and materials.

The initial contract wording stipulated that the services would be covered up to $16,900 and the amount submitted was between $11,000 and $12,000.

With the acceptance of the denial letter, Commission President Kevin Overmyer was permitted to sign the document to return to FEMA.
