Marshall County Auditor Discusses IPEP Unemployment Claims Tracker Contract with County Commissioners

Marshall County Commissioners (L to R) Mike Delp, Kevin Overmyer, Kurt Garner

Marshall County Auditor Julie Fox discussed a proposed agreement with the Indiana Public Employers’ Plan with County Commissioners last week.

Fox explained that the agreement with IPEP would help manage the County’s unemployment insurance claims. She said County Attorney Jim Clevenger looked over the agreement and mentioned that he would be in support of it.

She said the document was modified to show that it would be an agreement with Marshall County only and stated that it would only require the president’s signature. She elaborated a bit about what the agreement would provide.

“If we have claims that would include the unemployment aspect there would be a representative that would represent Marshall County for us.”

Commissioner Kevin Overmyer asked if there would be a cost and Fox replied that they would only be charged if the organization is utilized. She said their hourly fee is $150 per hour.

County Attorney Clevenger noted that these incidents don’t happen very often in the County. However, if something were to come up IPEP would be able to offer some expertise at a reasonable rate. He said it would be worth it to enter into an agreement to secure their services.

The commissioners took a unanimous vote to approve the IPEP unemployment claims tracker contract.
