Digital Copy Fee Ordinance to be Considered for Sheriff’s Department

An ordinance will be considered by the Marshall County Commissioners in July that would include fees for electronic copies at the sheriff’s department

During the commissioners’ first meeting in May, Sheriff Matt Hassel proposed fees for digital copies of photographs from accident reports, 911 calls and radio dispatches. There currently isn’t a fee schedule for those requests and he would like to establish one to recoup costs.

It was previously reported that there are currently charges for paper copies, accident reports, gun permits, and background checks.

County Attorney Jim Clevenger told the commissioners this week that he drafted an ordinance for the digital copies and the sheriff told him the draft is what he was looking to enact. The commissioners will review the paperwork and consider it on first reading at their next meeting.
