Marshall County Building Administrator Chuck Dewitt recently informed Argos Town Council members of an existing zoning rule that isn’t being followed by some downtown building owners. Earlier this year, the Town of Argos entered into an intergovernmental agreement with Dewitt who has been assisting with various zoning and planning matters ever since.
Most recently, he appeared before the Town Council at their meeting last Wednesday, according to Clerk-Treasurer Lisa Mullaney.
She said, “Chuck Dewitt was wanting to pursue letters to downtown building owners to tell them that they can’t use the bottom half, the retail space, as storage or warehousing. He brought it to the town council because it was brought to him.”
During the meeting, the council members permitted Dewitt to proceed with sending the letters in order to inform citizens of the existing rule and to help clean-up and organize the visible spaces in downtown buildings.
