Work on the Hickory Road bridge is underway.
Zach Dean from DLZ told the Marshall County Commissioners last week that trees were taken down from the mitigation site and demolition work is in progress.
“They’ll start working on the north span and taking down the abutment and the pier,” said Dean. “They’ll reconstruct that and then they’ll mobilize around and start demolition on the south end. They did deliver the project field office. That is over at the County Highway Garage.”
To accommodate the bridge construction, Hickory Road between 7B Road and 8B Road will be closed through a tentative date of July 7. The proposed detour utilizes 9B Road, Fir Road and 7th Road.
Grand River Construction, Inc. is doing the work on the bridge. They were awarded the contract in the amount of $1,184,454.87.
