Plymouth City Council Approves Paperwork for Aquatics Center

The Plymouth City Council member reviewed the non-exclusive sublease and the terms of use agreement pertaining to the Aquatics Center.

City Attorney Sean Surrisi gave a brief overview of the sublease agreement.

“The agreement is with Marshall County Health and Wellness,” explained Surrisi. “The lease is for 25 years to the city for non-exclusive use of the Aquatics Center. That’s on terms of a payment of $12,000 per month. The first payment will begin on July 1st of this year and it will be a three month payment. It’ll cover the term of May, June and July. There is a $24,000 security deposit that is held throughout the term of the lease.”

Surrisi also reviewed a portion of the terms of use agreement with the council that outlines payments.

“For the term of 25 years, the city will be receiving 40 hours per week of community access time to the pool facility. At least 50 percent of the time has to be for open swim during the hours of 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday.”

Surrisi said the paperwork is preliminary as it’s a little premature to figure out the swim times and fees for use. Proceeds from the user fees will help over operational costs.

The council did approve the sublease and terms of use agreement subject to minor revisions to the document. Any modifications will be brought before the council at their next meeting. Mayor Mark Senter will need to sign the paperwork by the time the financing is finalized in May.
