Marshall County Veterans Service Officer Pam Schweizer-Betz received support on Monday morning from the county commissioners to take part in online training that deals with the understanding of medical terminology, coding, billing, Medicare, Medicaid, and ethics to assist veterans, widows and widowers in the claims process.
She explained that the claims process slows down when she comes across medical conditions and medications that are specifically coded and she’s sometimes unsure of the proper terminology to enter on the claims forms. She said the At-Home Professions training will speed up the claims process to better assist veterans.
She received prior approval by the Marshall County Council members who plan to advertise for an additional appropriation for the cost of the training. The cost is estimated at $2,500.
The commissioners gave their support for the funding and thanked Schweizer-Betz for all of the help she gives to veterans in need.
