The Marshall County Council members will meet in emergency session this morning to discuss the financial status of the county highway funds to support the cost of flooding repair work.
During last week’s Marshall County Commissioners meeting, Highway Supervisor Jason Peters submitted a cost estimate of damage to the county’s roads, bridges and culverts, as well as labor, equipment and rental costs. That estimate is nearly $5.395 million.
USI Consultants assisted with assessing the bridge repairs and Mike Obergfell from that consulting group said the engineers would be back when the water recedes to conduct another damage analysis.
When, or if, FEMA provides reimbursement to the county for damages sustained in the flood event, the county has to move ahead and repair what is needed to maintain public safety. That will be discussed this morning. Public comment will be limited to roads.
The Marshall County Council will meet at 9 a.m. today in the second floor meeting room in the Marshall County Building at 112 W. Jefferson Street in Plymouth.
