Plymouth School Board to Continue Planning for Lincoln Junior High Project

The Plymouth School Board will hear comments from the public tonight on the lease finance process for the Lincoln Junior High School building project. The corporation plans to replace much of the school with a new building, while the original 1926 structure will be left in place and renovated for other uses. On top of that, renovations are also planned at Plymouth High School, Riverside Intermediate School, and Washington Discovery Academy.

To pay for the work, bonds will be issued. For that to happen, the school corporation plans to transfer ownership of Lincoln Junior High School to the legally-separate Plymouth Multischool Building Corporation and lease the building back.

A public hearing on that proposed lease will take place during tonight’s school board meeting, before board members consider a resolution authorizing the sale and lease process to continue. Other resolutions relating to the sale of bonds and the acceptance of construction bids will also be considered.

In other business tonight, the Plymouth School Board will vote on whether to ratify the master teacher contract for the current school year. It calls for a beginning base salary of over $34,000 for new teachers.

Tonight’s Plymouth School Board meeting starts at 7 p.m. at the Plymouth Schools Administration Building.
