Monday was the final day that individuals interested in the Triton Schools superintendent position could submit applications for consideration.
Superintendent Donna Burroughs announced her plans to retire during a school board meeting back in September. Before the school board members met for their regular session on Monday, they held an executive session to go over the submitted applications.
Burroughs expressed how she felt about the amount of applications submitted and explained where things will go now that the application deadline has passed.
“Well I was very excited that we had fifteen applications.” Burroughs said, “The board is now in the process of setting up some interviews for the end of this month for selecting the new superintendent.”
Superintendent Burroughs mentioned that the number of people who submitted applications reflects Triton’s positive reputation within the community and displays an eagerness to work with the school corporation.
She added that each candidate who submitted an application had the credentials and experience to do the job. She said that is good for the future of Triton since anyone who is selected will be qualified for the position.
