On Saturday, October 7th Cars and Coffee will be returning to the old Mobilgas filling station on Jefferson Street in Plymouth one final time from 9 a.m. until noon.
Owner of Coffee Lodge and Bakery, John Montgomery came before the Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety asking for permission to have a temporary street closure for the second and last Cars and Coffee in September. However, after receiving such great feedback and requests for another, he came before the board once again during their meeting last Monday, asking for one final street closure.
Board member Jeff Houin joked that he had only one concern and it was that the request was for the final event. He said he hoped Montgomery meant just for this year because it is an event many residents have come to enjoy. Montgomery confirmed it was just the final request for the season and they plan to hold more in the future.
Board member Houin expressed his appreciation to the coordinators for their cooperation with the board so far saying, “I’ve heard nothing but great feedback and been really happy with the way you’re handling it. You’ve taken our concerns and come up with good solutions.
All vehicles are welcome – cars, trucks even boats! Montgomery said more than 80 vehicles turned up to the second event. Like in the past, The Coffee Lodge will provide free coffee and donuts.
In accordance with October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month this month, event organizers have teamed up with Ounce of Prevention. Proceeds raised will go to assist the organization and will remain in Marshall County.
Bailey’s Furniture in Plymouth has donated hamburgers and hotdogs that will be served from 11 a.m. to noon to anyone who makes donations for breast cancer awareness. Hair Mechanix Salon will be on site, streaking single pink highlights for donations as well.
They advised that due to the unpredictable nature of this time of year, the event will be held as long as weather permits. On Friday, October 6 a post will be made regarding Saturday’s weather conditions and plans for the event. Stay tuned into their Facebook event page for the latest updates.
