Marshall County Maintenance Director Doug Masterson approached the commissioners Monday morning with an emergency situation with the fire monitoring system at the Marshall County Museum.
Masterson explained that the system failed on Thursday and needs to be replaced. He added that Marshall County Historical Society Museum Director Linda Rippy contacted the NoBi Corporation out of Elkhart to get a quote to replace the fire monitoring system. The company representative gave her an estimate of $5,935.
The commissioners asked Masterson if that money could be paid out of the maintenance department’s budget to get the issue solved as soon as possible as Rippy was not in attendance at the meeting. The money would be reimbursed to the department once the project is complete. Masterson agreed to the proposal.
The commissioners unanimously approved a motion to proceed with the purchase of the equipment needed to replace the system. Commissioner Kurt Garner will approach the county council at their Oct. 9 meeting to discuss reimbursement.
