One Marshall County bridge is almost complete while another is in the design phase.
Ben Beer from USI Consultants told the Marshall County Commissioners on Monday that Bridge #174, or Apple Road Bridge, is nearly complete.
“They should have everything completed this week,” said Beer. “They’re paving and putting up guardrail and seeding and then they’ll be out of there. There are no change orders. Everything was within budget.”
Laurie Johnson from DLZ commented that reports for Bridge #81, or Hickory Road Bridge, were submitted to INDOT concerning the wetland mitigation site and utility coordination. The historic property report is complete and it was submitted to INDOT. All permits needed for the project were approved. Johnson added that the design exception request was approved in July.
“That was to reduce the speed limit from 55 mph to 45 mph,” she said. “During construction at some point, the highway department will come to you with an ordinance for that. The current project letting date is Feb. 7 and ready for contracts date is Nov. 29. To prepare for that, the final bridge design work has been completed. It’s getting checked and minor corrections are being made and the same with the drafting regarding the draft design and then the road work. Everything is in really good shape.”
The Hickory Road Bridge could have substantial completion by the end of the construction season in November of 2018 with the final project details complete in 2019.
