The Marshall County Health Department will be holding a public hearing in July in order to amend some fees within the department.
Health Department Administrator Christine Stinson told the Marshall County Commissioners this week that the cost of birth and death certificates will double to $10 and paternity affidavits will increase to $35.00. New well permits will be $150 and well replacement or repair will be $100. That covers the cost of testing which detects bacteria, nitrates and arsenic.
Notary fees will decrease to $2.00.
The public hearing to hear comments on the fee changes will be during the first commissioner’s meeting in July. During the same time, an ordinance on well placements and permits will be presented for public comment in a separate hearing.
County attorney Jim Clevenger will be reviewing the language in the ordinance before it is published and prior to its placement on the county’s website.
Stinson also asked the commissioners to approve an application for an emergency preparedness grant. The grant would be for $19,070 that would pay for automated external defibrillators and act as a supplement income for an emergency preparedness person for the health department. Stinson said she is working on getting additional funding necessary for that staff member. The commissioners approved the request.
