Culver Town Council to Review Stellar Communities Application

The Culver Town Council members will review the town’s Stellar Communities application when they meet tonight.

The council appealed to residents last month to complete a survey. The survey asked participants to see which projects would be important in making significant changes to the community, what can be done to entice people to come to Culver, and tools to help boost the local economy. The survey results were due March 1.

Once that information is reviewed, the town can resubmit the application. Culver was close to winning the designation of Stellar Community last year, but fell short to Corydon.

The purpose of the Stellar Communities Designation Program is to recognize Indiana’s smaller communities that have identified comprehensive community and economic development projects and activities in addition to a plan and key partnerships.

The Stellar Finalists will be announced on May 24 with site visits scheduled for September. Designees will be announced in mid-October.

The council members will also hear reports from department heads as well as board and commissions. The council will meet tonight at 6:30 p.m. ET in the Culver Town Hall.
