Plymouth Sewer, Water Projects Continue Moving Ahead

Plymouth IndianaThe Plymouth Board of Works got an update Monday on several of the city’s ongoing public works projects. Utility Superintendent Donnie Davidson said the Boys & Girls Club sewer relocation is essentially complete. “We need to do a final inspection and creation of punch list, if necessary, but everything is operational,” he said. “Paving’s been complete. The sidewalk’s been installed. Some seeding has not, of course, come up yet. It probably won’t, at this point, until next spring.” The sewer relocation effort will clear the way for the Boys & Girls Club of Marshall County to replace much of its Plymouth facility with a new, larger one.

Also nearing completion is the airport sewer project. “That has been installed,” Davidson said. “They are connected to the city sewer. It is operational. We hope to do the final inspection on that [Tuesday]. Everything went smooth. Like I say, it is operational, so we’ll have the completion on that, hopefully, by the end of this week.”

Davidson told the board of works that the Randolph Street water main extension, part of which will run under Centennial Park, is also moving ahead. “Both bores under the creek and the river are complete,” he said. “We are connected at Michigan Street. They will be starting this week on the final leg of it from Baker Street, which will connect to just south of the river. At that point, once the testing is complete, then they will start connecting to the service lines to the various buildings.” He says that work should be done within the next couple weeks, weather permitting.

Davidson also told the board of works Monday that the Wastewater Treatment Plant upgrades continue to be on time and on budget. “The aeration basin and the final clarifier – the excavation is complete for those,” he said. “They have poured the base for the aeration basin, installing the reinforcing steel, and the steel buildings are supposed to arrive mid-December.”

The Wastewater Treatment Plant project has a completion date of February, 2018.
