Marshall County Habitat for Humanity Prepares for Work on 17th Home

An area not-for-profit will soon begin construction on another home.

Habitat for Humanity of Marshall County says it is ready to break ground on its 17th family home. The group dedicates itself to ensuring every person has what they consider a decent place to live.

The house will be constructed in Bourbon with a ground-breaking ceremony slated to take place on Sunday. Volunteers have already started construction at the site, but the ceremony follows months of fundraising for the effort.

Bremen resident Mellone Mendoza was selected to reside in the house. Those chosen for the projects are expected to complete a set of pre-construction requirements, including sweat equity. Many hours of volunteer work must be completed to qualify before moving into the home.

According to a press release, many volunteers will be working on weekdays to complete the home.

The public is invited to attend the ceremony in the 900 block of North Main Street in Bourbon.
