Marshall County Highway Supervisor Jason Peters told the county council members on Monday that paving is underway on 6th Road, but the weather hasn’t cooperated in order for that project to be done in a timely manner.
Marshall County Community Crossings Project Nearly Complete
Work is continuing on one of Marshall County’s Community Crossings projects.
Work on South Michigan Street from Dewey Street to State Road 110 is complete. Walsh and Kelly Project Manager Nick Relias told MAX News that the milling and paving project took about a week to complete. An inch of asphalt was removed and an inch-and-half of asphalt was installed. Striping will be complete soon.

Walsh and Kelly crews are busy working on the resurfacing project on South Michigan Street from Dewey Street to State Road 110 in Marshall County.
Plymouth Board of Public Works Approves “No Parking” Requests for Street and Sidewalk Projects
Plymouth City Engineer Rick Gaul’s request to allow Walsh and Kelly to put up ‘No Parking’ signs received approval from the Board of Public Works and Safety members when they met last night.
Gaul explained that crews with Walsh and Kelly will plac the’ signs and make notifications 48 hours prior to the ‘no parking’ enforcement. He also provided members with a tentative schedule for the first few weeks of the street and sidewalk projects.

Crews Continue Work on Plymouth Sidewalk Projects
Walsh and Kelly crews have started work on the fall sidewalk projects in Plymouth approved for this year. Street paving will wait until the spring, according to Street Superintendent Jim Marquardt.
“They’re doing a lot of the concrete curb work,” explained Marquardt. “They felt like they could get all of that done this year and do all of the paving come spring. They’ve been working on North Street and Walnut and Center Streets. Their goal is to get everything done curb-wise before the asphalt plants close and get asphalt back around the curbs. They will finish up sidewalks for the season and come and pave in the spring.” Continue reading
INDOT Contracts Ready for Community Crossings Projects
The INDOT contracts for projects awarded 2018 Community Crossing grant money were presented to the Marshall County Commissioners for signature Monday morning.
Highway Administrator Laurie Baker said after the contracts are signed the county can begin the process of receiving the grant money totaling $518,322.87. The county’s match is $129,580.72. Continue reading

Work will begin soon on a Marshall County Community Crossings grant project.

Plymouth BOW Ratifies Bid
Plymouth Street Superintendent Jim Marquardt asked the Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety members Monday night to ratify a bid presented to them at the prior meeting for street and sidewalk work.
Plymouth City Attorney Sean Surrisi opened bids for the projects during the Oct. 11 meeting. Following the meeting Chris Marshall with the city engineer’s office reviewed them and the lowest bid provided by Walsh and Kelly was found to be within the specifications requested. Continue reading
Two Marshall County Community Crossings Bids Approved
Bids were opened Monday morning for the three projects awarded Community Crossings grant funds for Marshall County.
After the bids were opened, the Marshall County Commissioners, Highway Administrator Laurie Baker and Highway Supervisor Jason Peters learned that the $518,322.87 grant along with the $129,580.72 match for the grant will only cover two projects. The grant plus the match will total $647,903.59 and the lowest bids for the two projects that would be the biggest priority will total $642,626.25.
Bids Opened for 2017 Fall Street and Sidewalk Projects
Plymouth City Attorney Sean Surrisi opened bids for the city’s fall street and sidewalk project list during Monday night’s Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety meeting.
There are about 30 individual projects that the city will be doing. Many will be done yet this year with others continuing in the spring of 2018.
State Road 17 Repaving Project Ahead of Schedule
The State Road 17 repaving project on Michigan Street is ahead of schedule.
The crew from Walsh and Kelly, Inc. is working on the milling and paving project that is anticipated to be complete two weeks from Monday’s start date. Rain dates are built into the paving schedule so it should wrap up on time.
Road Construction Taking Place This Week in Plymouth
