Plymouth Board of Public Works Approves “No Parking” Requests for Street and Sidewalk Projects

Plymouth City Engineer Rick Gaul’s request to allow Walsh and Kelly to put up ‘No Parking’ signs received approval from the Board of Public Works and Safety members when they met last night.

Gaul explained that crews with Walsh and Kelly will plac the’ signs and make notifications 48 hours prior to the ‘no parking’ enforcement. He also provided members with a tentative schedule for the first few weeks of the street and sidewalk projects.

The schedule includes the days that crews are expecting to start and complete specific jobs. However, dates are subject to change in the event that inclement weather conditions interfere with the scheduled work.

Yesterday, Monday, April 23rd was listed as the start date for a few of the jobs, including work on North Street between Western and Michigan, work on Maple Road from Freeman to the dead end and work on Liberty Street from Pennsylvania and Webster. That road work is anticipated to be finished by April 25th, April 28th and May 7th, respectively.

On Wednesday, April 25th work will commence on Laporte Street between Center and Plum and it will be completed on Saturday, April 28th.  Work on Washington Street between Michigan and Plum will also on Wednesday and start and it’s expected be completed by Tuesday, May 1st.

On Thursday, April 26th, work is scheduled to begin on Jefferson Street between Walnut and the Yellow River Bridge and officials indicate that it will be completed by Tuesday, May 1st. On Friday, April 27th work will begin on Monroe between Plum and Walnut and it’s expected to wrap up on Wednesday, May 2nd.

On Tuesday, May 1st, work on Walnut between Monroe and Novelty will begin and work on North Street between Michigan and Western will start on Wednesday, May 2nd. With the anticipated completion date for Walnut listed as May 8th and the end date for North Street expected to be May 10th.

Additional work will be conducted on the sidewalks and curbs of these streets during the same time frames.

During the next few weeks, residents should keep in mind that no parking shall be allowed in areas where Walsh and Kelly crews have been permitted to erect signage. Those who fail to comply run the risk of having their vehicle towed, at the owner’s expense.
