Transportation Update Given to Plymouth School Board

Taking more than 1,200 students to class every day is no small task, and the Plymouth Community School Corporation’s transportation office is doing it while navigating a nationwide bus driver shortage, new state laws, and inattentive motorists. Transportation Director Brandon Berger shared how his office is dealing with these challenges during Tuesday’s school board meeting.

Indiana Office of Energy Development Now Accepting School Bus Grant Applications

The Indiana Office of Energy Development recently announced that they are accepting applications from public school corporations for the Indiana Propane School Bus grant program. Their announcement marks the third round of grant funding made available by the OED dedicated to propane school buses.

According to OED Director Tristan Vance, propane school buses offer a variety of benefits such as increasing fuel diversity, lowering maintenance costs through the use of a cleaner burning fuel and most importantly, decreasing student exposure to harmful emissions. Continue reading

Watch for School Buses as School Begins

The start of school is upon us as a few school corporations begin their new school year next week.

When school buses are on the roads picking up children for school or dropping them off after school, Indiana State Police troopers remind drivers to stop when a school bus displays flashing lights and stop arms, even on multiple lane highways. Motorists who are on a highway that is divided by a barrier or unimproved median are required to stop only if they are traveling in the same direction as the school bus. If there is a divided highway without a barrier or unimproved median, all drivers in all directions must stop. Continue reading
