Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety Members Address Parking Problems on Gary Drive and Plum Street

At the Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety meeting this week, Street Superintendent Jim Marquardt received permission to install signage on Gary Drive, near Love’s Travel Stop.

Superintendent Marquardt asked board members to allow him to put up no parking signs in that area to keep semi-trucks from parking vehicles on the roadway. He said the problem became the most apparent when they ran into trouble plowing streets due to the abundance of trucks parked on the road, rather than in the lot. Mayor Mark Senter commented that it should be common sense for people not to park there, but agreed that something should be done to prevent future problems. The request received unanimous approval from board members.

Board members also continued discussion about problems with parking on Plum Street. Continue reading

Officials Cut Ribbon on New INDOT Sub District Facility in Plymouth

Officials cut the ribbon on INDOT’s new Plymouth Sub District facility at 2845 Jack Greenlee Drive located north of U.S. 30 off of Pioneer Drive.

INDOT Commissioner Joe McGuiness from Indianapolis said the former facility off of old U.S. 31 served this part of the district for a number of years.

“Our original facility in Plymouth here served us well for almost 40 years, but it certainly doesn’t have the modern features and amenities that we all desire in today’s workplace,” said Commissioner McGuiness. “This facility is truly state of the art. It has a new main building, the salt building, a full-service garage and eight maintenance bays. It’s 40,000 square feet. The salt building holds about 7,300 tons of salt and about 10,000 gallons of brine.” Continue reading

Plymouth BOW Ratifies Designation of Underground or Buried Utilities Area

Plymouth Mayor Mark Senter signed an executive order at the end of April that restricts the placement of small wireless devices and the Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety took further action on that document.

City Attorney Sean Surrisi said a state law passed in the final days of the General Assembly broadens access to government-owned right-of-way for the placement of cell phone antennae on poles of 50 feet or less. There was a provision in the law that the city wouldn’t have any review process over the location of those poles unless it is in a designated area for underground utilities.
