Initial Hearing Date Postponed in Theft Case
An initial court hearing in a theft case allegedly involving Laura Mann and Kevin Bridgman has been postponed as Marshall County Superior Court No. 1 Judge Robert O. Bowen recused himself from presiding over their cases. The original hearing dates were set for Tuesday, May 1 at 8:30 a.m.
Candidate Filings Continue
The number of contested races is starting to add up, heading into the May primary. District 1 Marshall County Commissioner Kurt Garner has two challengers so far: David W. Hostetler and Stan Klotz. Three candidates are also looking to become the next Marshall County Recorder: Anna “Buffy” Breeding, William Cleavenger, and Janet Howard.
Haeck Court Hearing Continued
A hearing to consider a motion to return restitution in the case of former Marshall County Highway Superintendent Neal Haeck has been continued until Thursday, Jan. 4.
Marshall County Prosecutor Nelson Chipman told MAX 98.3 FM News that Marshall County Superior Court No. 1 Judge Robert O. Bowen was unable to be in court on Thursday for the 9 a.m. hearing so it was continued. Prosecutor Chipman said it’s preferred that Judge Bowen preside over this hearing.
South Bend Man Sentenced in Marshall County Armed Robbery Incident
A South Bend man who was found guilty of armed robbery in a two-day trial in June in Marshall County was sentenced by Marshall County Superior Court No. 1 Judge Robert O. Bowen on Wednesday to nine years in the Indiana Department of Corrections with no part of the sentence suspended.
