Semi Driver Injured in Rollover

A Portage man was injured in a Monday evening semi truck accident in Marshall County.

According to Marshall County police, Daren Curtis, 23, was on the exit for U.S. 30 from U.S. 31 when the load on the trailer he was pulling shifted. The action caused the semi and trailer to tip over onto the driver’s side. Curtis was treated at the scene for minor injuries sustained in the accident.

The ramp was shut down for several hours while the semi was removed from the scene.

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Plymouth EMS and the Plymouth Fire Department.

Marshall County Law Enforcement Agencies Release Operation Pull Over Results

Plymouth Police and Marshall County Sheriff’s Department officers worked extra shifts last month as part of a crackdown on impaired driving. During the Operation Pull Over blitz, county officers made five criminal arrests for offenses like operating while intoxicated – controlled substance, possession of marijuana, driving while suspended and driver never licensed. Marshall County Sheriff’s Department Adds Crash Investigation Equipment

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department has new crash investigation equipment to pinpoint exactly what a vehicle did before, during and immediately after a wreck. Crash data retrieval allows officers to download and analyze data stored in a vehicle’s airbag module. Event Data Recorders record information, including the vehicle’s precise speed several seconds before the crash, the timing of the braking of the vehicles involved and whether seatbelts were fastened. One Injury Reported in Three-Vehicle Crash

A three-vehicle crash on Michgan Road south of 5A Road Monday morning injures one person. William S. Hurst, 37, of Plymouth, was northbound and did not see a vehicle driven by 27-year-old Michelle Thompson of Plymouth slowing to turn left into a driveway. Small Child Injured in Two-Vehicle Accident

A two-vehicle accident in Marshall County Wednesday afternoon caused minor injuries to a young passenger.

Police say Kimberly Moore, 42, of Knox was stopped at the intersection of State Road 8 and State Road 17 and was preparing to turn north onto State Road 17. Moore entered the intersection and struck a vehicle driven by Nicole Risner, 30, of Plymouth who was traveling south on State Road 17, according to a news release. Both vehicles sustained significant damage. A five-year-old boy, who was seated in the front seat of Moore’s car, suffered minor head and neck injuries after the airbag deployed.
