Marshall County Council and Commissioners to Collaborate on Public Safety Funding and Executive Agreements

Though the Public Safety Subcommittee has not concluded its work – President of the Marshall County Council Jesse Bohannon and Vice President Tim Harman informed the Commissioners that the Public Safety Subcommittee is considering the recommendation of a $500,000 matching grant program for Fire Departments and Emergency Medical Services (EMS). Nothing has been officially presented to the Council nor has it been formally approved, however Bohannon and Harman expressed confidence that a program such as this would likely be supported by the Council.

Marshall County Commissioners Approve Contract Ordinance

The Commissioners approved Ordinance No. 2024-17; An Ordinance Setting Forth Requirements for County Contracts and the review and approval of County Contracts. The ordinance was passed unanimously on first read by all three commissioners, and passed on second and third read in a subsequent meeting by President Stan Klotz and Vice President Mike Burroughs.

Marshall County Commissioners and Council Continue to Consider Plan and BZA Legal and Advertising Fees

The Marshall County Commissioners and Council are still deliberating the matter of legal and advertising fees incurred by the Plan Commission (PC) and Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA), the legality of limiting their access to legal counsel, and how to fund expenses incurred for the remainder of 2024 whether those expenses be pre-authorized or not.
