Marshall County Health Department Receives Grant

The Marshall County Health Department is the recipient of a $2,500 mini grant from the Indiana State Association of County and City Health Officials.

According to Marshall County Health Department Administrator Christine Stinson, the grant funds would be used as a voucher program to test known IV drug users for Hepatitis C as she feels that is a population that needs more health study.

Additional HIV Cases Prompt Public Health Warning

HealthAdditional HIV cases in southern Indiana have prompted a warning from the Indiana Department of Health about risky behavior. The four new cases bring the total number of people who have tested positive for HIV to 188. State officials say the outbreak has been linked to shared needles among injection drug users. All of the newly diagnosed cases are contacts of cases previously identified in the outbreak, according to health department officials. Continue reading
