National Preparedness Month a Chance to Make Emergency Plans, Learn Lifesaving Skills

National Preparedness Month starts tomorrow, and the Indiana Department of Homeland Security says there’s something everyone can do to be ready for disasters. During the month of September, residents are encouraged to make and practice an emergency plan; check their insurance coverage; and learn CPR, first aid, or other lifesaving skills.

Metal Detectors, Emergency Plan Updates Discussed During Plymouth School Board Meeting

Schools around Indiana will soon get handheld metal detectors. Now, school safety officials have to figure out how they’re going to use them. Last month, Governor Eric Holcomb launched a program that gives metal detector wands to every school that requests them. But it doesn’t provide funding for guards to staff a security checkpoint.

LEPC Presents Emergency Plan to Marshall County Commissioners

The emergency plan formatted by the Local Emergency Planning Committee, or LEPC, was presented to the Marshall County Commissioners for approval Monday morning.

LEPC President Gene Gray told the commissioners that the plan is in line with the county emergency plan so it will not confuse emergency responders. There are maps and site plans within the emergency plan for 85 county facilities.

Gray posed the question as to how the county will enforce this plan.
