The City of Plymouth will host a musical and colorful spectacle tonight when the Parrots of the Caribbean perform live as a part of the Summer in the Park Concert series in River Park Square.
Gates will open at 6:30 p.m. and the concert will start around 7:30 p.m. It will run until 9:30 and will be held rain or shine. Tickets are required and cost $10 for adults and youth gets in for free.
According to the band’s website, they put on a high energy, original “trop-rock” stage show that features a salute to Jimmy Buffett. Event organizers encourage everyone to dress up in their most vibrant tropical apparel to really get into the spirit of the show. Continue reading

Officials are conducting a parking study in downtown Plymouth and need your help.
Plymouth city officials and members of Discover Plymouth along with the Michiana Area Council of Governments (MACOG) are working to understand the current parking capacity, identify areas of deficiencies, ease of parking, and the overall parking needs in downtown Plymouth. Information received in this study will help the city determine better parking options, signage or other parking improvements. Continue reading
Discover Plymouth is inviting residents to “discover” a new type of fundraiser. Tonight is the Dine Around and Concert event in Plymouth from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
The unique event gives you a choice of two dinner packages. Appetizers are from 6 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. at Reese’s Ribs (served at 101 S. Michigan Street) or Yolanda’s, entrees are from 6:45 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. at The Brass Rail or The Office, and desserts are offered 7:45 p.m. to 8 p.m. by Granny’s, La D’Zert Café, and French Press served at the Marshall County Historical Museum.
The 4th annual Art in the Street event is set for Saturday in downtown Plymouth.
It’s an art block party as art vendors will cascade Michigan Street from LaPorte to Garro Streets. Oil paintings, stained glass, photography, ceramics, metal work, watercolor, knitted items, hand-beaded semi-precious stone jewelry, and cutting boards are just a few of the things you’ll find from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.
Representatives from the Discover Plymouth organization presented information to the Plymouth City Council on Monday night on their progress on plans in making the city a safer place to walk and bike.
According to Allie Shook, the group plans to improve existing crosswalks or install crosswalks, connect fitness facilities with sidewalks, and construct bike racks, benches and bumpouts. Shook says the purpose of a bumpout is to increase pedestrian safety.
New housing, parks, and job opportunities are a few of the things Plymouth residents can expect to see in the near future, according to Mayor Mark Senter. During his annual State of the City Address Monday, Senter gave an update on the city’s progress in implementing its 2013 Comprehensive Plan. Continue reading
