Continue readingCulver Community Middle/High School’s new main entrance is just about done. “All glass is in,” Superintendent Karen Shuman told the school board Monday. “All rooms are created. All plumbing is into the nurse’s station. All painting is completed. All furniture has been delivered. And all carpet has been replaced that needed replaced. So at this point, we are just waiting for trim to be finalized and cleaning of the whole zone to make it shine.”
Upgrades to Culver Community Middle/High School will soon be able to move ahead. The school board voted Monday to use bond money to move the main entrance and office to where the school’s library currently is. Board member Mark Maes commented that the new arrangement would be a big upgrade, both for safety and aesthetics. Some of the bond money will also be used to remodel the restrooms across from the high school gym.
The Culver School Board continues to make arrangements for summer school classes. On Monday, board members approved the appointment of Mary James as the summer school teacher for Culver Community Middle/High School. They also gave permission for band director Jason Crittendon to offer a summer band program.
Culver Community Middle/High School is collecting items for victims of Hurricane Harvey. Throughout the month of September, students and staff are gathering non-perishable food, cleaning supplies, bathroom items, baby supplies, and pet supplies.
When sixth graders at the Culver Community Schools corporation return to class next week, they’ll head to the middle/high school, rather than the elementary school. The change was approved by the school board earlier this month.
