A group of Culver students recently went to Mexico to help improve the living conditions of local families. The Culver School Board heard a presentation Monday from Culver Community High School students Cody Rieckhoff and RT Roberts. They, along with Marcella Cooper, joined a group of about 40 students from Culver Academies on a spring break mission trip.
A plan for bike trails in the Culver area was presented during last week’s town council meeting. The Troyer Group has been working for over six months to put together a master plan for bike and pedestrian facilities. Continue reading
Marshall County Junior Achievement has gotten some help with its efforts to teach local students the basics of economics. The organization says its annual Achieve-A-Bowl fundraiser attracted 11 teams this year. Continue reading
Culver Academies’ first carillon recital of the year will be held next Saturday. Academies Carillonneur and Organist John Gouwens will perform several carillon works, including Gian Carlo Menotti’s “Six Pieces for Carillon,” Matthias van den Gheyn’s “Prelude no. 9,” and one of Gouwens’s own compositions, “Cortege.” Continue reading
Some of Culver Academies’ first female students will be returning to the Culver campus next month for a reunion event. Girls have formally been allowed to enroll there since the founding of Culver Girls Academy in 1971. But for 14 years before that, the school allowed the daughters of faculty and staff members to attend classes. Continue reading
Two horse-riding groups from Culver Academies are heading to Texas to perform in the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo this weekend. The Black Horse Troop Lancer Platoon and the Equestriennes will each perform twice. They’ll both also appear in the opening ceremonies. Continue reading
