The John Glenn School Board held a work session Tuesday night on the 2018 budget.
Business Manager Tom Bendy gave information to the board about the proposed budget that will be advertised. A public hearing on the budget will be held at a later date.
The board did approve the advertisement of the 2018 Capital Projects plan and the Bus Replacement Fund. The corporation is advertising the purchase of two 84-passenger buses and two 14-passenger buses.
Culver Town Council Cuts Budget
The Culver Town Council met in a work session Tuesday afternoon to discuss the 2018 budget.
Council President Ginny Bess Munroe commented that every department worked hard to trim $17,000 from next year’s budget. The budget will be published with the public hearing on the budget set for a modified meeting date of Wednesday, Sept. 27.
Plymouth City Council Discusses 2018 Budget
The Plymouth City Council members discussed the 2018 budget in a special session Monday night.
The budget is tightened up for 2018, according to Clerk-Treasurer Jeanine Xaver. She said that every department worked diligently to cut their budget and department heads and managers are not to spend more than 95 percent of their budget.
Marshall County Council Discusses Pay Increases
The Marshall County Council will be entering into budget negotiations soon and discussed the potential for full-time employee salary increases.
Historically, the council has always recommended a three percent raise each year. Councilwoman Penny Lukenbill said it’s not known where the county will sit at the time the budget discussion begins and the three percent increase may not be met.

Marshall County Council Adopts Budget for Sheriff’s Commissary Fund
The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department now has a budget for spending revenue generated out of its Commissary Fund.
During Monday morning’s Marshall County Council meeting, Sheriff Matt Hassel approached the fiscal body about the prospect of adopting a budget for certain purchases that hopes to improve the department. The Commissary Fund is the account where money gained from the sale of products to inmates incarcerated at the Marshall County Justice Center is placed.
