She sent a 911 text message to Marshall County Central Dispatch around 7:15 p.m. advising her boyfriend had battered her. The Plymouth Community School Corporation will pay considerably more to the city for a school resource officer under a new agreement approved Monday night by the board of works. NIPSCO reminds anyone with outdoor plans that involve digging to call 811 before doing so. Officials say digging into underground lines is the biggest risk to NIPSCO’s gas system and the leading cause of damage. So-called “blind digging” damages an underground utility line every six minutes, according to Common Ground Alliance. Striking an underground line can harm you and others, disrupt service to an entire neighborhood and potentially result in fines and repair costs. Continue reading

The Marshall County Council will meet on Monday for an annual recognition of probationary pay waivers.
The policy is part of Marshall County’s salary ordinance which specifies that new employees receive a 10-percent reduced pay from the normal scale for a period. Once the probationary period has passed, wages are returned to their normal scale.
The Plymouth Board of Works will consider an agreement between the police department and school corporation when they meet this evening. It concerns the recent assignment of Bridget Hite as a school resource officer for the year. Continue reading

The Indiana State Police confirm the published telephone number for their general headquarters in downtown Indianapolis has been spoofed over the last few days. That’s the practice of masquerading as someone else by falsifying the number as it appears on the call recipient’s caller ID display. In this case, people across the country receiving the calls saw 317-232-8248 come up. Sometimes the caller reportedly spoke with a “thick Indian accent” and claimed to be from the Indiana State Police. He then proceeded to ask for personal information from the caller and threatened arrest if they did not comply. Continue reading
