Tuesday night marked the final meeting of their term for two members of the Culver Town Council.
Ed Pinder will retire from the Council after serving 16 years in the seat. Another member, Jean Rakich, served a shorter one-year term, but was equally thankful for the experience.

A Plymouth student has been selected for the 2016 Indiana Junior All-State Jazz Band. Hugh Smith, an eighth-grader at Lincoln Junior High School, will be playing the trumpet when the band performs Friday, January 15 in Fort Wayne, as part of the Indiana Music Education Association’s 2016 State Conference. The band is made up of seventh-through-ninth graders from around the state. Continue reading

Members of the library’s fundraising arm, Friends of the Library, have been accepting donations to purchase an Automated External Defibrillator. The equipment is used as a means to restart a proper heart rhythm during cardiac arrest.

Investigators with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department have arrested a third suspect in the Dec. 26th theft of power tools and other items from the Plymouth Lowe’s store. Employees there called 911 following the incident and advised the suspects left in a white Ford SUV. Continue reading

An ordinance that specifies the use of golf carts within Culver’s Town Limits ran into a few problems, Tuesday night.
The matter was approved on first reading earlier this month. Golf carts are a common method of transportation during the warmer months in the lake community. The Town already has an ordinance in place regulating their use, but Town Administration has proposed changes to the way they’re used in Town and the fees associated with the proper permits.

The Town of Argos has corrected an error in the election of one of its Town Council members.
Earlier this year, the Argos Town Council was required to break a tie for one of its three available Town Council seats. The tie for the final available seat was certified after Election Day by the Marshall County Election Board.
The Culver Town Council will meet for the final time in 2015 on Tuesday night.
State lawmakers may consider further regulating cold medication sales in an effort to curb Indiana’s methamphetamine epidemic. Sen. Jim Arnold, D-LaPorte, says that’s one of several priority issues they will consider when they reconvene next week. Roads across northwest Indiana are expected to be slick and hazardous into the evening hours. Widespread sleet and freezing rain have blanketed the area since early this morning.
