Culver Clarifies Nuisance Violations Following Ordinance Adoption

The Town of Culver is attempting to make sure everybody is on the same page when enforcing violations of a newly updated ordinance.

Town Council members approved the amendments to their Nuisance Ordinance in August, specifying grass length and the types of items that are allowed in yards. The administration wanted to ensure they were interpreting the language correctly during a work session meeting on Tuesday night.

Marshall County Courts to Bring Statewide Information

Marshall County will be deploying a statewide case management system for its courts next year.

The county currently uses “CSI.” Officials from the county say the software has worked well, and they’ve been offered quality customer support. The state of Indiana, however, has made a push to put case management for their courts on a statewide system. The new system is called “Odyssey.”

State Officials Urge Patience and Caution When Driving During Harvest Season

Harvest season’s getting underway, and state officials are warning drivers to be on the lookout for farm equipment on Indiana roads. A number of agencies, including the Indiana State Department of Agriculture, the Indiana Department of Homeland Security, and the Indiana Department of Transportation, are teaming up to bring attention to safety issues on roads in rural areas. City of Plymouth Accepts Park Donation

A private park on the north side of Plymouth is now under the city’s control. Last night Plymouth Board of Park and Recreation accepted the donation of Price Memorial Park into its park system. The Ray L. Price Foundation has operated the 12 acre facility for many years. Located across from Centennial Park, it includes a large swimming and fishing pond, a gazebo, two picnic shelters, a playground and a caretaker’s residence. The park has been a fixture in the community for generations of Plymouth families.

Mayor Mark Senter says the park is a “natural fit and another positive development in the city.”

DNR Reports More Women Hunters

Hunting is growing in popularity among women nationwide and in Indiana, according to officials with the Department of Natural Resources. They say the number of hunting licenses sold to women increased by 93 percent from 2006 to 2014. During that same time period the number of female youth hunters skyrocketed 114 percent.
