Multiple Counts Filed Against Kosciusko County Sheriff, Two Others

ChipmanKosciuskoAn investigation into the alleged criminal activity of a Kosciusko County resident has also led to the arrest of the county’s Sheriff.

Multiple charges have been filed against three individuals following an extensive investigation by Warsaw Police and Indiana State Police. A press conference was held Monday afternoon to address the matter by appointed Special Prosecutor Nelson Chipman in Marshall County. He says the grand jury charges stem from an investigation started as part of Kevin Bronson’s separate cocaine and gang-activity arrest in August of 2015.

Driver Arrested Following Traffic Stop

A Friday night traffic stop ended with a trip to jail for a Plymouth man. A Marshall County Patrol Officer pulled a vehicle driven by 18-year-old Isaac Rich over on Lincoln Highway near Iris Road around 11:30 p.m. for a moving violation, according to the police report.

 

Rich was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person, operating a vehicle while intoxicated controlled substance and reckless driving.

Plymouth 19-year-old Arrested Following Vehicle Accident Inquiry

police-3Plymouth Police were investigating a three vehicle accident on Friday morning, but happened to arrest an individual unaffiliated with the incident.

According to information provided by the Plymouth Police Department, officers were in the area of Walnut and Jefferson Street around 10:00 a.m. when they approached a vehicle that was near the accident site. Officers say the car was attempting to travel through accident scene.

INDOT Travel Update

INDOT-logo-150x131As of 9am Central Time 10am Eastern Time: Snow has tapered off and winds are starting to subside. Snow on the ground is very wet and heavy and is packing on many secondary roadways. In Lake, Porter, Jasper, Laporte, Marshall and Fulton Counties, many east/west secondary roads are impassable due to the heavy, wet snow and snow drifts. Also some secondary roads are completely closed in sections due to disabled vehicles. Snowfall totals range from 8”-20” in the district. Primary roads, to include Interstates are in decent to fair shape, mainly wet to slushy.  Secondary roads are slushy to snow covered and will need attention most of the day. Continue reading

Widespread NIPSCO Outages Remain

nipscoNIPSCO crews are still working to restore power throughout northern Indiana. Heavy snow and high winds brought by yesterday’s blizzard knocked out power to 39,000 customers.

Storm conditions are expected to continue today, with the potential for additional heavy wind gusts through Friday. NIPSCO expects a multi-day cleanup effort.  Once the storm subsides, NIPSCO will be able to make a better assessment on estimated restorations times – which could improve or worsen depending on the weather conditions.  Crews will continue to work around-the-clock to restore service. INDOT Cautions Motorists Not to Travel

snow-plowRoads across northern Indiana are slick, slushy and quickly filling with blowing snow, according to INDOT officials. They advise moderate to heavy drifting is occurring in rural areas due to gusty winds. Lake effect snow is also falling in Porter, LaPorte and St. Joseph Counties. This is leading to reduced visibilities and potential white out conditions. Continue reading
