Bourbon Announcement May Mean Purchase of Former Amerimax Site

MCEDC-smallThe Town of Bourbon is slated for a major announcement next Tuesday, but information about the event has been kept to a minimum.

Marshall County Economic Development Corporation Director Jerry Chavez previewed the affair during Monday morning’s County Commissioners meeting. The event – which will take place at Bourbon Town Hall on April 12th – has only been described as an exciting new development to residents and businesses.

Appraisals Taking Place for Monterey School Building

Monterey School BuildingThe former Monterey School Building is in the process of being appraised, ahead of a planned sale of the property. Culver Schools Interim Superintendent Chuck Kitchell told the school board Monday that one appraisal was completed a couple of weeks ago and another was scheduled for Tuesday of this week. Kitchell promised to share the results with school board members, once they are available. Mixed Weather Offers Test for Local Gardeners

Warmer temperatures in March, and a wintry mix predicted this week are prompting a few recommendations from Purdue Extension Agricultural Educator Phil Woolery. He says the more a plant has developed, the more likely it is to be affected by colder temperatures.

Ancilla College Planning for Second Annual Day of Giving

Ancilla College NEWAncilla College will be holding its second annual Day of Giving on Friday, April 29. College officials hope to get a total goal of 200 donors to take part in this year’s event by donating online, and they’re challenging each of those donors to give $24. Development and alumni relations manager Emily Hutsell says this level of donations can change the lives of students at Ancilla, where 90 percent of students receive some sort of financial assistance. Rep. Walorski Touts Accomplishments to Local Business Leaders

WalorskiChamberU.S. Representative Jackie Walorski visited Bass Lake Monday, to tout some of her accomplishments to members of the Starke and Pulaski County chambers of commerce. Walorski said that over the past few years, House Republicans have been making progress on their agenda, in spite of a president Walorski says has not been supportive of their positions. She says Republicans have been getting things done in Washington both through persistence and compromise with Democrats.
