Travel Advisory Issued Due to Flooded Marshall County Roads
Marshall County is under a yellow level travel advisory due to several flooded roads. That means routine travel or activities may be restricted in some areas due to a hazardous situation. Motorists should use caution or avoid those areas. Do not try to drive around barricaded roads. National Weather Service Issues Local Flood Warning
A flood warning is in effect for much of the area until mid-afternoon. Areas covered by the warning from the National Weather Service include Starke, Northwestern Marshall, Northwestern Pulaski, Southeastern LaPorte and St. Joseph Counties. Since yesterday, between 4 and 8 inches of rain have fallen over the warning area, with additional showers expected to bring between one-fourth and one-half inch of additional rainfall. Memorial Forest Entrance Due for Eagle Scout Upgrades
Veteran’s Memorial Forest in Marshall County will be getting a bit of a facelift in the near future.
During Monday morning’s Marshall County Commissioner’s meeting, it was proposed to clean-up the entrance of the forest off of 14th Road and develop a parking space for visitors. It’s part of an Eagle Scout project being undertaken by Daniel Stauffer from Troupe 257.

Bison-Tennial Public Arts Project Unveiled in Plymouth
Marshall County is now home to Jibey the bison. That’s the name chosen for the commemorative Bison-tennial statue unveiled Friday at the Marshall County Historical Society Museum in Plymouth.
Kathy Zentz with Heartland Artists Gallery says 11 Heartland artists spent nearly 200 hours painting the statue. She says the scenes on the five-foot tall animal depict the different communities and townships in Marshall County. His mane features the names of towns from days gone by, or places like Burr Oak and Donaldson that have shrunk considerably over the past 200 years. Continue reading
