Culver Town Council Updated on Solar, BESS Ordinances

The Culver Town Council members were updated on the progress of the solar ordinance and the Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) ordinance for the town.

Building Commissioner Steve Gorski told the council members that a committee working on the ordinances will submit them to Town Attorney Sean Surrisi for a final legal draft form. With the solar ordinance currently under a moratorium with a deadline approaching, Gorski said he hopes the ordinances will be presented to the Culver Planning Commission in April with final approval by the town council in June.

Surrisi commented that he is making sure legal compliance is followed and any formality clean up is done. He realizes that there will likely be careful review and further revisions made to the documents before they are finalized.

The council took formal action to approve the work Surrisi will be doing to the town’s solar ordinance and the BESS ordinance.
