The Marshall County Plan Commission is looking for a new plan director.
Ty Adley submitted his resignation to the Marshall County Plan Commission president as plan director with the effective date of Saturday, November 30. It was announced Monday, October 28 that the City of Plymouth hired Adley as the city’s new planning director.
Marshall County Plan Commission President David Hostetler appeared before the Marshall County Commissioners Monday, November 4 to make sure that officials are on the same page. He said he met with the Human Resources Administrator to post the position which has been done, but Hostetler believes the search should widen as it could be difficult to fill the position given the current environment.
Hostetler commented that he spoke with Plymouth Mayor Robert Listenberger on the matter.
“It wasn’t their goal to leave the county in a bad situation,” said Hostetler. “They’re willing to work with the county. We could have, potentially, and I don’t have the authority to do this, some kind of co-government agreement to allow Ty to assist us in the process. We apparently, and this is before my time, have done that in the past.”
As for moving forward, Hostetler sought guidance from the commissioners.
County Attorney Jim Clevenger said it is the responsibility of the Plan Commission to hire somebody and suggested talking to the Plan Commission’s attorney, Derek Jones, for next steps although funding for that conversation was included in the discussion since permission is needed by the Marshall County Council to spend funds for legal fees as that line item in the Plan Commission’s budget has been exhausted for 2024. Hostetler said he will be moving forward with the process with Jones and with help from the Human Services Administrator.
