Changes will be coming to the security entrance to the Marshall County Courthouse, if the county secures a grant.
Court security officer Duane Culp explained to the Marshall County Commissioners during their meeting Monday, October 7 that he worked to find a matching grant through the judges in Indianapolis and is working with Superior Court No. 3 Judge Matthew Sarber as they maneuver the grant process. He said he found a grant and the grant money will be used to improve officer security at the security entrance, along with the purchase of a new x-ray machine. The current machine is about 15 years old, according to Culp.
The matching grant is about $40,000 to $45,000. Sheriff Matt Hassel commented that the matching portion will be the point that the county previously purchased new cameras for security.
The commissioners unanimously approved the grant request.
