The Marshall County Council members took action to adopt the 2025 budget.
According to the Notice to Taxpayers on the Indiana Gateway website, of the major funds, the General Fund was advertised at about $16.3 million, the Highway Department Fund at about $575,000, Local Road and Street at $962,000, the Cumulative Bridge Fund at about $2.6 million, the Health Fund at about $693,000, Cumulative Capital Development at about $1.1 million, LIT Special Purpose at about $6.4 million, Medical Benefits Self-Insurance at just under $3.3 million, Local Public Health Service at about $1 million, and Central Dispatch at about $329,000.
The overall total advertised budget is $42,790.783.
During the course of two public meetings, the council members were able to cut about $2 million from the budget. Comments were made that the county is in good financial standing with a balanced budget and health cash reserves. The necessary paperwork will now be sent to the Department of Local Government Finance for final approval.
