Culver-Union Township EMS Director Michael Hasselfeldt provided an update to Culver Town Council members during their meeting Thursday, September 12.
He said updates are going to be made to the upstairs area of the base with new paint and new flooring. He said work will be done in-house and will cost less than $2,500. He said that work will begin in a week or two and will take about a month to complete.
He will also be gathering quotes for the upgrade of the base radio and speakers with an additional unit to be located in the basement of the base. Hasselfeldt had gotten quotes, but another quote was asked to be presented during a future meeting of the council so he will present that later this month.
In other business, the council approved a motion to adjust the utility department work hours to 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. ET. The council will also no longer require workers to clock out for lunch which is consistent with other town offices.
The council also discussed having quarterly meetings with the public to discuss issues. The meetings would be held at a casual setting outside of Town Hall where community members can discuss any topic of concern or possible ideas to help the town in general. The two council members that would be in attendance would offer light refreshments and hear from constituents and take those conversations back to the other council members for further discussion. It was not determined when the first in the series of those public offerings would be planned.
