Marshall County Commissioners Discuss Purchase of Security Cameras

The Marshall County Commissioners discussed the purchase of security cameras for the courthouse and the county building.

An updated proposal was obtained from Hyperwave that outfits the county’s IT needs. The cameras will be updated at the courthouse and the county building for better coverage and for better security.

The cost of the project is $53,751.21. Commission President Stan Klotz said Sheriff Matt Hassel does not have the funding in his budget. He suggested supporting the funding to be considered by the Marshall County Council to find funding for the update. The cameras will still be maintained by the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, but the commissioners support moving the project forward with funding to be found by the council in the budget.

The commissioners unanimously approved a motion to support the project with Klotz to appear before the council for funding discussions.

In the same vein, the commissioners thought it would be best to outfit a smaller room in the Marshall County Building with livestreaming capabilities for smaller government meetings. There is a new law that all government entities that deal with tax dollars will be required to livestream meetings by July 1, 2025. The commissioners will look into the matter further with discussions with the Marshall County Council.
