Marshall County Commissioners Approve Second Phase of Owner-Occupied Housing Rehabilitation Project

The Marshall County Commissioners unanimously approved a request to advertise a notice to bidders for additional homes as part of the Owner-Occupied Housing Rehabilitation Project.

Grant writer Shannon McLeod from Priority Project Resources explained four more homes will be bid out for projects in the second phase which needs advertisement. The bids will be due June 17.

The homes included in the second phase are located on Castle Drive in Plymouth, Lake Avenue in Plymouth, Sycamore Street in Plymouth, and West Randolph Street in La Paz.

At the home on Castle Drive, improvements will include the replacement of the existing furnace and condensing unit, bathroom improvements, replacement of fascia and soffit on one side of the house and the installation of a new chimney cap and roof seal.

At the home on Lake Avenue, improvements will include the replacement of existing roof and attic insulation.

At the home on Sycamore Street, improvements will include the replacement of the existing roof, gutters and downspouts, and a tree removal.

At the home on West Randolph Street, improvements will include the replacement of existing roof, fascia, soffit, gutters, and downspouts.

McLeod added that a third phase of projects will be bid in late July and there is an effort to finalize work to be done on selected homes.

Additionally, the commissioners approved an invoice to Brown and Brown General Contractors, Inc. to complete the first round of projects. McLeod said the funds have to be paid up front in order for the grant to reimburse the funds back to the county. The invoice was approved in the amount of $48,395.
