Marshall County Sheriff Matt Hassel asked the Marshall County Commissioners last week if he could apply for the Comprehensive Hoosier Highways Injury Reduction Program (CHIRP) grant.
The request includes a grant amount for all of the police agencies who participate in the enforcement efforts in the county. He said the grant renews October 1 and goes through 2025. The request was unanimously approved.
Sheriff Hassel also asked to approve a $86,256.50 COVID-19 Detection and Mitigation grant agreement between the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department and the Indiana Department of Health. The funds will be used to purchase two washing machines and two dryers. The grant has already been received. The commissioners unanimously approved the agreement to be signed by Commission President Stan Klotz.
The commissioners also approved two out-of-state training requests.
