Local Communities Awarded Community Crossings Matching Grant Funds

Governor Eric J. Holcomb and Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) officials announced this week that $207 million was awarded through the Community Crossings matching grant program, a component of Governor Holcomb’s Next Level Roads program.

Communities submitted applications for funding during a highly competitive call for projects in January. Funding for Community Crossings comes from the state’s local road and bridge matching grant fund. The Community Crossings initiative has provided nearly $1.7 billion in state matching funds for local road improvement projects since 2016.

State legislators identified long-term funding for Community Crossings as part of House Enrolled Act 1002, passed by the General Assembly and signed into law by Gov. Holcomb in April 2017.

Locally, Argos received about $91,000, Bourbon received almost $117,000, Bremen was awarded just over $500,000, Culver got about $285,000, Hamlet received about $133,000, Medaryville was awarded about $165,000, North Judson got about $37,500, Marshall County was awarded the full $1.5 million, Pulaski County was awarded just over $1 million and Starke County received the full $1.5 million.
