Traffic Stops Leads to Arrests in Plymouth

Officers with the Plymouth Police Department initiated traffic stops March 5 that resulted in arrests.

The first stop occurred just after 6 p.m. ET in the area of Harrison Street and N. Oak Dr. in Plymouth where the driver reportedly failed to stop at a stop sign. Police say the driver of the van, 62-year-old Jorge Figueroa-Espinoza, attempted to identify himself by another name and date of birth. It was later found that the driver’s license status showed the driver to be a habitual traffic violator.

He was arrested and booked into the Marshall County Jail on a preliminary Level 5 Felony charge of habitual traffic violator and a misdemeanor charge of false informing.

About two hours later, a traffic stop was initiated after the driver reportedly failed to yield the right of way in the area of Washington St. and Walnut St. During the traffic stop, police say the driver, 33-year-old Justino Martin Gonzalez Fernandez, was operating the vehicle without a driver’s license.

He was arrested and booked into the Marshall County Jail on a preliminary charge of operating a vehicle without ever obtaining a license.

Formal charges will be determined in each case by the Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office.

Suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
